Hello all,
I'm just reviewing the roadmap right now and it looks like maybe we could all give it another once-over. There are a few tasks that have not been taken on by anyone.
I would also love to hear feedback from people about what they would like to work on, so we can update the roadmap to match.
Maybe we should all look at the bug tracker as well to see if there are any bugs we can help smooth out--as this is the bug hunt.
Agreed. Bulia's been kicking butt at closing bugs, but I think we all should chip in a little. If 8 of us each took and closed three or four bugs, I think we'd be there.
Also, I'm wondering when we think we will get 0.38 out the door generally. I know we don't operate on timed releases, but I think if we can start to see the general timeline for the next release, our work will start to hone in on a general time.
Most bug closing activity seems to occur on the weekend, and we're closing them at a rate of 3-4 per week. That suggests something like 2-3 months at our current rate. But with more manpower applied, if we each closed a bug a week, we could be thinking about 3-4 weeks. I think a bug a week is quite doable.
Who is working on an extension proposal? That is on the roadmap for this release. I posted a wiki page so that we could splatter some paint on the canvas and brainstorm. http://inkscape.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ExtensionArchitectureProposals
I'd love to help out with it. I put Ishmal's proposed extension system into the experimental module, and would encourage people to take a look at it. Also, I think we need to look a little more intently at the libgnomeoffice option; I know at first blush this didn't seem to perfectly suit our needs but it sounds like they may be receptive to accepting patches to help adjust it to do what we need, so that ought to be explored a bit deeper.
Is there anything that needs to be freshened up on the site as well? If you wouldn't mind spending a couple of moments looking at it, I will update some aging news items, add some new screenshots, and so forth.
Could you add news items for: * 0.38 status / Bug count * Scribus meeting (thanks mrdocs!) * Bulia's autoscroll feature * Mental's new initiative AST * Your directory restructuring work * My pod2svg and txt2svg extensions * Nathan and Peter's NR::Point work * Update on clipart efforts * Other stuff I'm not thinking of (peer through the changelog)
And maybe move a bunch of the older news items to the archive page. Since there's so many items, it might make sense to rather than putting them all out at once, to put out a couple items a day over the week.
I'll put together the status report for March 1st later this evening.
Also, I posted sim's screenshot 'all_signs' - could you add it to the screenshots page and get it into rotation?
