I was surprised that Inkscape website didn't have a forum, it felt like something really essential was missing. Your suggestion now makes it more clear that somethings missing on an even bigger level.

Drupal 6 is out, I guess the new "Druplified" version of the website should emerge soon?
Perhaps its possible to contribute a Drupal module that would organize all the information you mentioned into a Dashboard for all registered users. It could show the news from all major areas, like bugs reported or fixed, questions asked on Answers, new forum topics, new art submissions etc, and it would be possible to choose which categories to track (something like OpenLaszlo Dashboard).
