Thanks for the reply but no, Win 8.1 has nothing to with it.

fwiw, Win 8.1 is far more stable in some regards than all the different versions of Win 10.x

What I should have said was "I'm running Win 8.1 (yes, I know, but Win 10.x is far worse)."

I just posted a more detailed reply to Martin.

From a code-slinger aspect, and quite honestly (after dealing with various MS-Windows revision changes for the past 30 years) I'm something of a Win version idiosyncrasies expert - so I do know this is not Win 8.1 related.

But, I do greatly appreciate your attempt to help.
