Alt+click on a layer in InDesign selects all objects of the layer, IIRC. Which one is closer to Inkscape? :)
Alt+click on layer indeed selects all objects in Illustrator, but Alt+click on the visibility icon works as I described. We just need to implement both shortcuts (as well as probably others).
Alt+Click on the Lock icon behaves like alt+click on visibility and toggles the locks on all other layers. Ctrl+Click on the Visibility icon toggles Outline mode for that layer only. Ctrl+Click on the layer selects or de-selects a layer (they allow multiple selection), this would be handy for being able to move multiple layers up and down at the same time. That's what I know off-hand...
