
It seems that most apps have some slight snap to grid turned on on start of the program, yet it is easily turned off. Grids though are turned off by default.
Remember we should keep the rule of orthogonality in terms of our options. One switch changing two things is not necessary the best usability decision (I'm reading art of unix programming right now, p. 89).

I've been making good use of the # shortcut for turning the grid on and off. Quite handy.
However, every time I put the grid on, I also want to snap to the grid, yet afaik there's no shortcut key for it, so I have to open the edit window settings anyway, so the value of the # shortcut key is lost.
Makes me wonder if anyone actually uses the Grid without also turning on Snap to Grid and if one could reasonably tie the two together?
That's a good question. Certainly having the grid on without snapping seems a bit odd, but I could see a point to having snap on but the grid off, perhaps to reduce clutter.
