Hi C, I'm not a developer, just an Inkscape user. I'm very active in support forums for Inkscape, and I've helped some on the website. For the example you provided the link to, I would have some concern about changing the names of the tools to match it's corresponding key shortcut. For example changing the name of the Tweak tool to Warp, because the W is the key shortcut. Or changing the name of the Spray tool to Autoclone, because the shortcut is the A. Or 3D Box to Extrude Box, because the shortcut is X. Or Paint Bucket to Usefill (what the heck?). I think it's extremely important that the tools' names be the same, across all manuals, references, and tutorials, as much as possible. I see that column is called "Mnemonic", so perhaps you didn't intend that to be the name of the tool. However, I suspect users will take it that way, and before you know it, someone will post a message about the "Usefill tool" and it will make it that much harder to figure out what they're asking. Or someone will say "Why this Extrude tool only extrudes boxes?" So I think it would be very helpful to have another column there, perhaps on the far left, with the real name of the tools. For that quiz tool feature -- it sounds nice, as long as it's not on by default. It drives me crazy when programs have that kind of thing on by default, and everything I do, some little window comes up, giving some kind of "tip" having nothing to do with what I want. Then I have to search around and figure out how to turn it off. Thanks for listening and good luck with your project :-)
All best, brynn ______________________

Hey everyone. I'm presently developing a system to make it easy to treemap hotkeys and functions of a software package. I'll be posting the code on github and offering it under the GPL.
As an initial development example, I'm using Inkscape. I have a mockup of (kinda sorta) what the resulting page will look like (all code will be HTML5 and javascript).
The sample is here: http://www.opendesignstudio.org/inkscape/samples/inkscape_tools_treemap_mock...
I was wondering what everyone thought of the idea, and the organisation of the information with regards to inkscape tool functions.
Any additions or changes to the information?
Additionally, I'll be providing the construction files for all the alternative inkscape icons in this chart to anyone who would like to use them, for whatever purpose.
After I do a complete keyset of Inkscape in this manner, I'll be doing one for GIMP, Scribus, and *gulp* Blender.
I'd also like to add a "quiz" feature that pops up flashcards of the keys to use in a sort of hotkey-calisthenics program. All this is to make people faster at using Inkscape and other software.
Thanks for your input!
