The second would be to have a view option which shows the above information as little labels that appear when you begin a drag operation. so next to the lines that the node effects would be size and curve information, a label near the node would tell you it's position and angle (maybe with on of those arcs to show what it is), now I know this is not useful to artist types because they don't so much design as just draw, but for creating regular complex shapes this information would be invaluable and having it near the object while the operation is being carried out would make it easy to understand as well as being closer to your eye.
You may want to talk to Mathieu Dimanche about this. I found his initial post on the list regarding this topic and I'd say it wouldn't hurt to contact him directly about it (his email is in the header for the message). http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=14084283
Indead, I'm still working on highlighting snapping objects (guides, gridlines, object nodes and paths). Since Carl did some fine job creating a SnapManager object dealing with the whole snapping process, I'm modifying it a little (hum... more than that in fact) to highlight things when something snaps to them, and trying to make the whole thing really open for further improvements about snapping (see the "smart guides" mode in illustrator). As soon as I'm pleased with my snapping ideas, I'll go on with highlighting and finally, text labels.
And yes, initially, I wanted to add visual textual hints (labels) to the highlight, so we'll know exactly what is going on. Unfortunalty, this requires a lot of work and I'm still planning to add labels possibility but it'll be later in the process, it needs a brand newSPCanvasItem "bitmap" object (as SPCtrlLine, SPCtrlQuadr, etc...) to take care of that.
I'm available to chat about that, don't hesitate :)
