When I made a large full color poster printed commercially via PDF recently the two major pains where clipping not working in export, which closed 3 days ago (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/168800) and blur (dropshadow) not exporting.
I think those are major feature which need to "just work" for commercial use.
BTW, the new filter interface and controls (i.e. no filter view) would make dropshadow heavy work much easier :-)
