+1. While I can understand that an API can be difficult to develop and maintain, I do not think it is worth to add 15 MB which nobody uses (or at least very few people actually use) to a download, especially considering those on slower connections and mentioned above.
Maybe initially one can distribute the inkview executable separately and see how many people actually need it, then later on remove it entirely once it is known that it is not in demand... Heck, whoever wants to view an SVG can just load up Inkscape!
