Hello again,

Thank you for responding so soon. I am truly honored to be corresponding with the makers of Axidraw. I had never thought I would be interacting with you while I was making a DIY version of it.

And I apologise for coming to the discussion so late, I had been using my version of the multi-line input since a year ago and didn't know active discussion was going on.

Well I did read the thread, discussing the upcoming update of Hershey's text. I am attaching the link to the current code and extension files changes I made, to accommodate multi line inclusion, I don't think it will help much but then again it's just sitting in my disk

project link - https://gitlab.com/swayne/inkscape_hersheys-text_multiline-input

It's a makeshift make. I haven't completely integrated it with the extension, so to make it work you have follow the Readme file. (it's quite easy, bit of copy and paste. I just didn't invest much time to integrate it)

Looking forward for the update and also can I send messages directly to this email,
windell@...3695...? It will be for getting much deeper understanding of centerline Texts and few doubts which I had faced.

Thankyou
Swayne

P.S. I guess automating the handwriting font generation is a whole new paradigm and needs to be worked on. Tracing the fonts is quite tedious in the current setup. And having single line fonts matching your handwriting will completely change the plotter usages.

Hi Swayne,
I'm the original author of the Hershey Text extension. I've been rewriting Hershey Text with some major changes and a new version is almost ready. (See https://gitlab.com/inkscape/extensions/merge_requests/25#note_145678292 for discussion.)

The changes that are underway do not overlap with the ideas of generating handwriting fonts from PDF documents, and I expect the current set of changes to be complete (and ready for you to build upon) by the GSoC start date. I am not involved with Inkscape's GSoC program, but wanted you to be aware of other work underway and for you to know that we all welcome your efforts.

(Fun part is that I submit my practicals and college assignments by using a plotter which I made and generating gcodes for these single line fonts, as the fonts we generally use are incompatible (no one writes like that).)
