On a related note, if an element is defined in <defs> or elsewhere like this:

<image id="MyImage123" height="4" width="4" y="0" x="0"

xlink:href="data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAAQAAAAECAIAAAAmkwkpAAAAFUlEQVQImWMMDQ1lgAEmBiTAglMGAEruAgjcYZR9AAAAAElFTkSuQmCC" />

and the id string is known (by whatever means), then from within Inkscape, how would one retrieve the corresponding data (x,y,height,width and bitmap) fields?
