Round join style is nice, but it doesn't really affect the shape of the path. For example, if you don't have a stroke (i.e. it's just shape with a solid fill) the corners aren't rounded. Also, there is no way to specify the radius of the curve -- it's tied directly to the thickness of the stroke. So for 1px-wide strokes, you don't really have any visible curves.
