Round join style is nice, but it doesn't really affect the shape of the path. For example, if you don't have a stroke (i.e. it's just shape with a solid fill) the corners aren't rounded. Also, there is no way to specify the radius of the curve -- it's tied directly to the thickness of the stroke. So for 1px-wide strokes, you don't really have any visible curves.

Alexandre, I'd never heard of Fillet & Chamfer before -- I'm a dedicated Inkscape user, and have never spent any real time with the Adobe tools. Wow, it looks  very useful. At a guess, it shouldn't be hard to implement as an extension, or possibly an LPE. But I don't have enough experience to know for sure.

It would be coolest as a dynamic property so you can see the corners change as you drag a custom handle, or update a spinbox or something. Save on the TrySomething->Undo->TrySomethingElse cycle.

It would also be really handy to be able to restrict which nodes you want operated on -- so you can keep some corners intact if you want. Very useful for quickly tracing bitmap shapes by hand.

For round corners you can use a stroke with round join style. See the
