Since you are on Leopard, I would do the following: 1. Run Software Update and make sure you have installed today's Security Update 2008-002. 2. Download and install the 2.1.4 update to X11.app from http://xquartz.macosforge.org/ 3. Make sure you don't have a "DISPLAY=something:0" line in any of your profile files (~/.profile, ~/.bashrc, etc, etc) This variable was required under Tiger but should not be set on Leopard. Aside: Our 0.45 package will not work on Leopard (since it sets the DISPLAY variable) 5. At this point, your Macports version should hopefully work. 6. Download and install our Inkscape-0.46-1.LEOPARD.UNIVERSAL.dmg package which should also work. 7. If Inkscape still doesn't work, try starting it with Console.app open, and report the console output to us.
