I agree that we don't want to interrupt users, but if something is in non-compliance, what will make them think to look at the status bar? There's part of me that says a message in the status bar if all is compliant is sufficient (why disrupt everything if all is well), but I just don't feel we're really trying to notify if there is a conflict... maybe it flashes a couple times in the status bar in the event of a conflict? Anyone else have thoughts?

So as suggested by Ted in a previous mailing conversation I've now created a first draft of my proposal. Please comment on it.
I thought about pop-ups, but when I copy something between documents or imports something I don't want to be interrupted with an annoying pop-up therefore I've resorted to the statusbar. It's currently not showing anything specific when importing a SVG file nor pasting from the "clipboard".
