Hi Valerie,
excellent suggestions! I'm going to comment in detail in a couple of days, since I'd like to get some things that I'm working on sorted out and committed first. Just wanted to mention that my work for GSoC is very much in the spirit of some of your ideas. In particular, I'm planning to take a good step towards making LPEs easier to use and establishing them as tools in their own right. As I said, more comments to follow (probably during the weekend).
