Searching for 'inkscape' on news.google.com shows a couple news items:

Also, we've made the feature freeze date for Ubuntu (Feb 8), and so Inkscape 0.45 will be in the new release of Ubuntu, Feisty Fawn.
On SourceForge, we've reached the #2 most active project slot. Inkscape 0.45 has already been downloaded over 25,000 times, not counting the .exe package (traditionally the most popular).
We're getting a bit of an upsurge in bug reports, so if you have some spare minutes over the next few days, make a habit to peek at the newest bugs in the bug tracker (sort by Open Date with state==Open).
