This is where studying things like mouse gestures in Firefox and such can help. Personally I don't use them. That might be a hold-over from when I owned a Newton PDA with real writing recognition when others were using Palm PDAs with Graffiti.
Despite the fact that I don't use them much myself, I do recognize their usefulness for those who do use them. Done right, they can be *very* helpful.
