Developers,
Well, there were a total of 3 entries for the website re-design contest. They are as follows:
I think it's a beautiful print design, but lacks somewhat for web interactivity.
This one's not too bad, there are just some technical issues that need correcting (like the lack of resizing).
This one really hit me as very good.
I wasn't sure why. And then the base color itself is so-so. However, the artist managed to get that "bad" color to look good. Also I think it presents just enough information to carry forth the site usability, but not too much to confuse things. The simple use of depth also made things "feel" touchable.
I also looked into some of the feedback and tried it with different colors. I just did some quick hue shifting in Gimp, but it seemed to do well in most colors I tried (maybe 2/3rds+).
Blue, Cyan, Green and Purples looked very nice. And given the UI mockup's "color" dropdown, I think allowing for that was the creator's intent.
So.. this last one strikes me as a very good choice, and more from the subtle usability aspects.
