So I guess what I could do to help the project at the moment would be to translate the PO files for the PT_BR (Brazilian Portuguese) for the next release? Would this be helpful?

For example, make the following aspects of the UI configurable through .json, .xml, .yaml or whatever fits:
The techs that are/will/should_probably_be used are, with examples,
- icon set to use
gtk prefs, CSS[1], and FDO icon sets[2](should probably work in dev ?)
- toolbar content (tool sets)
XML (depends)[3]
- toolbar layout (toolbar positioning)
Glade (not yet)[4]
- text looks (font choice, size, style etc) via "CSS similar syntax" (I
think this work is already underway, right Tav?)
