Hi Tobias,
Tavmjong has volunteered to lend help with some of the decision making on dates and such. We discussed the event at today's Inkscape Board meeting, the timing of this event with our planned 1.0 release is very serendipitous.
Thanks again for your work identifying a venue, and please work with Tav to nail down details.

We have been thinking of doing a hackfest prior to or after LGM, however to do so we'd need to have a venue to meet at, ideally someplace in Saarbruecken (or possibly even the same place[1] as the LGM conf).
Does anyone have a place to propose? If so, we can try and nail things down at the next board meeting. We'll need a volunteer to get in contact with the venue and make the arrangements.
I talked to Julia from K8 (the LGM organizers) and she confirmed that there will be room for the hackfest a few days before the LGM, either at the venue itself or at our office.
For further planning I'd need to know for how many people we need space and what else – besides tables, chairs, Internet and electricity – is needed.
- As for the equipment:
In Kiel, we had some network switches for wired network, plus ethernet cables, lots of multiplug sockets, a whiteboard and a flip chart with corresponding pens, and a projector. For people's phones, there was wifi available.
We used the flip chart, mostly, for the discussions and planning. I don't remember if the projector has even been used...?
An electric kettle would be useful, too, if there's no other source of hot water - but I can also bring our mini kettle for that.
