Yes, Linux Libertine is very close to Calluna (especially the "C" glyph). Additional benefit of this font set is it includes a set of keyboard glyphs which will be very useful for the tutorials.

If we would like to keep the original font appearance, I don't think this needs a community vote. This is also going in my personal 50 essential open fonts list, so thanks Gez, for the tip! :)
The only /slight/ issue is that the kerning needs a bit of work. Fortunately, since it's an open font, we can fix it. :)
Did you consider to use 'Linux Libertine Display' instead?
At least in Inkscape (0.91, trunk), the kerning of 'INKSCAPE' is basically identical to how it renders with 'Calluna' - 'Linux Libertine Display' seems slightly lighter though. Note that I did not test/verify appearance in browsers.
If acceptably close in appearance, this would make it unnecessary to either create a fork of the 'Linux Libertine' font with custom kerning under a different name (important, AFAIU), or to hold back usage on inkscape.org until upstream decided on whether or not a modification of the kerning (for the specific use case in the 'Inkscape' logo) is acceptible and compatible with other use cases of this font.
All in favour of making Linux Libertine the official Inkscape font in place of the proprietary Calluna Regular?
