Hi,
Should we explicitly mention that Inkscape's native export to PDF means export to PDF 1.4?
Is it a known bug or a misfeature :) that text is not saved in PDF (beta3 for windows)?
It is a known bug and users are advised to convert Text to paths before export.
It is also a misfeature, it is unaccaptable data loss and until it is possible to export text as text the export should be forcing all the text to be converted to paths instead of throwing the information away completely whihc is clearly suboptimal. It does have the one advantage of forcing users to examine what is going on but that is of questionable benefit compared to having your image look like you expected.
Also since this is a natively implemented PDF exporter rather than a Cairo based one would it be suited to generating Adobe Illustator 10 (.ai) files which are PDF files internally? With a little carefully relabelling could Inkscape claim this as both PDF and AI export? (It is probably more complicated than that but I figure it was worth asking.)
