10/ The "Grid" effect is useful but why is it limited to a maximum of 10 pixels grid squares? (in addition the unit is not displayed in the effect's dialog).
I'm flexible on these, I just guessed for what reasonable settings should be. You can change them in:
/src/extensions/internal/grid.cpp
in the XML towards the bottom. If you find some you like, post 'em.
Thanks for the pointer. My request is in fact a bit more than changing the limit ;-) Indeed I can probably find a good default for me but it won't be good for some others. What would be really great would be to be able to supply xspacing and yspacing in pixels or cm or pts... the default would depend on inkscape's document default unit. In addition, the upper limits should be defined by the height and width of the object selected. The lower limit being internal. I don't know if all this is difficult or not. I see there is already some code to get the bbox of the selection around line 60. I guess the rest is adding some conversion routines from cm, pts, m etc. to px in Grid::prefs_effect and adding some drop down menu in the dialog. I don't know how to get the default from inkscape documents preferences.
