What am I missing here? I just updated SVN, uncommented the line to show the 3D box tool and rebuilt.
But I can't seem to figure out how to get the tool to do anything other than draw an axis aligned rectangle.

I like the first one better. But it's still not ideal. Ideally, I'd
like to have a handle in each corner, and have these handles as little
constrained as possible (I understand they cannot be absolutely
unconstrained or it will be ambiguous, but we need to find some
logical compromise).
Some more comments:
You need to implement a _description method for your SPObject so that
the statusbar says correctly what kind of object this is (now it just
says "Group").
Shift+mousedrag in the 3d tool crashes.
Duplicating a 3D box works, but the handles of the resulting box are
in some random position, and dragging them crashes.
Please update doc/keys.xml with the new tool's shortcuts (including
shortcuts inside the tool, for which you'll need to add a new section)
