Hi,
I received a bug report against debian's 0.43 version of inkscape:
In the export bitmap entry of the File menu, the default is to have an image with an extension (and format) of png. However, if I change this to file.jpg, inkscape silently decides that it'll still export a png, but with the *extension* jpg.
Instead, inkscape should do as the Gimp does, and do smart things with the extension and/or offer the user a choice.
At the bare minimum, give a warning and/or save the file as file.jpg.png so there is no ambiguity about the filetype.
I thought I should submit this here before I add it to the tracker due to the recent discussion about changes in the export dialog. Perhaps we could warn the user in this dialog that at the moment only png is supported for bitmap exports.
With best wishes,
Wolfi
