Jelle,
I don't mean to sound dismissive, but, this discussion is about changing the default shortcuts on things that have two existing shortcuts, it's not about adding new ones. The "common" shortcut you speak of is really just "Ctrl+X" (what most apps use). Personally, my goal with this effort is to eventually free up shortcuts & key combos... not add more redundant ones for existing functionality. Your request sounds like it would probably best be suited as a customized key mapping for you personally (0.49 will have a Keyboard Shortcut editor to allow you to easily change this).
Cheers, Josh

Hi all,
As the discussion on short-cuts is popping up. If it would be possible to do so... can Shift+Delete be mapped to remove selected and copy to clipboard? It is a quite common operation that I miss in Inkscape. Shift+Insert instead or additional to CTRL+V would be welcome too. Having multiple mappings to one tool/task?
Cheers,
Jelle
