When I am running Inkscape in GNOME on my Mac (installed through fink), I cannot open any files unless I specify files from the command line from the --file option. If I try to use the "open file" dialog, inkscape freezes, eventually a dialog box opens up saying that Inkscape encountered an error, but that is also frozen, and if I am lucky another dialog opens up giving me the option to force quit (i guess this is a GNOME dialog box). Using the "kill" command works otherwise without a problem.
1 - Start Inkscape in GNOME running on fink 2 - Click "File Open" Icon
OR
1 - Start Inkscape in GNOME running on fink 2 - Go to "File" menu, and click "Open"
The odd thing is that this only happens when I run Inkscape from GNOME (within Xnest, or when running X11 in full screen mode). If I run Inkscape with quartz-wm, no GNOME, things work fine (except, of course, that drop down menus appear behind the windows).
Has anyone encountered this before?
