please read the PR and edit/update
Okay...I took my 2nd round attack on the PR. I'm trying to make them more like professional PR, in the 3rd person, with standard form, and copying from Apple and others. Please have a look over for accuracy and style:

Hopefully then we will send it out tomorrow.
Thanks, Jon

I'm sorry but I don't think people will read that much text. I think it needs to be at least twice shorter. In fact, why not take the "In Brief" section from the release notes as the base? It was written with exactly this goal - give a brief overview of the release. It seems to me that one cannot write much more than the "In Brief" description without starting to sound pretentious, or boring, or both.

February 9, 2005 UTC -- The Inkscape developers announced today the 0.41 release of the Inkscape, a cross-platform open source vector graphics (SVG) drawing tool. This update focuses on bug fixes, stability, color bitmap-to-vector tracing capabilities, internationalization, translation refinements, pattern tiling, and improved Windows support.
"We owe deep thanks to the many users who have worked patiently with us to report the problems and validate these fixes," said Inkscape developer, Bryce Harrington.
In addition to stability improvements, developers added several new features. Inkscape's tracing functionality now can convert color and grayscale bitmap (raster) images into an editable vector graphics. Also, Inkscape adds a new clone tiler facility which creates patterns, tesselations, and other geometric tiling arrangements.
Inkscape 0.41 also has improvements to units handling, extensions, the Invert Selection command, layers selector, and icon theming.
...
I will stop here.
A couple comments:
- don't repeat yourself over and over again in a news release.
- attribute all superlatives to someone (and give them a title too).

This is really important. Users get especially annoyed if you tell them your program is the greatest thing since sliced bread and they go on to find a problem, any problem with it. Manage expectations, let users make up their own minds how good they think it is.

This is not pattern tiling. It's either clone tiling, or tiling of clones, or patterns of clones. Nothing to do with pattern fills, so best to avoid the word "pattern".

Can you please edit the wiki (and save some time) please? I edited Bryce's and then you guys edit what I edited...but why post to the mailing list rhetorical reflections when there is a place to edit this on the wiki (and a job to be done). Yes, I agree with you all on all points...

I agree with you on removing redundancy. Please effect changes.
