I am thinking about doing a project on reading digits on licence plate of cars from a picture of the car. I have done considerable research on this project which involves both image processing and optical character recognition. Please let me know if you are interested in this project or any other requirements i need to fulfill. Thank You

That sounds like an interesting project, but it's not really in the realm of what Inkscape's goals are. Mostly we're looking at vector data and objects already. I believe that there are a couple of OCR projects already that would definitely appreciate your contributions.

I haven't looked at OCR stuff for quite a while, but I believe that this was the most interesting project when I was looking. I believe that this is what Google is using for their books project:
