I found one bug #960046, that has opinion about whole text realization in inkscape, it has idea of merging text function. Also searching bugs with 'text' tag in it gives 229 results. I've listed this features: hyphens, indentation, underlining and merging.
How would you treat flowed text? Have you looked at the draft CSS exclusions and regions specifications to see how they could be applied to Inkscape? (An Inkscape implementation would really help push this forward for SVG2.)
Time is short. How deeply should I understand css specification at the moment? From what should I start?
Note, Firefox is known to be bad at rendering SVG text. This is something they are working on.
Yes, I see it now. Then I was working with diagram, there was bad support of svg text in firefox. So it is not inkscape's fault.
