svg 2.0 first public draft and blending
Hi,
SVG Working Group release the first public draft of SVG 2.0.
http://www.w3.org/TR/2012/WD-SVG2-20120828/
Among other important things it has:
1) Reference to the new "Blending and compositing" spec released earlier this month:
https://dvcs.w3.org/hg/FXTF/rawfile/tip/compositing/index.html
Among the outcomes: more useful blending modes.
2) LAB color, uncalibrated device color, with raw CMYK and n-channel data.
There are people around who would kill for these features in Inkscape. Do we have any policy regarding adoptions of new SVG stuff?

Let's not repeat flowtext is the policy. :)
I'm one of those who would LOVE to see things adopted. Basically, I think we need to rely on Tav to say "yeah, it's safe and the syntax is pretty locked down" or "it's still pretty questionable". I'm not sure if he can give solid comments before the graphical web conference (formerly svg open), but I would not press anyone to implement until he can give us a nod.
Cheers, Josh
I would be so glad to see all these compositing and blend modes in Inkscape ! They could so much simplify some filter effects (and naturally add a lot of possibilities for new ones !!!)
