I semi-regularly build trunk versions of Inkscape for Fedora, and as part of this process, I generate the tarballs using "make dist".
I am now uploading these generated tarballs to here: http://inkscapetarballs.ryanlerch.org/
for people to use. Note that these arent auto-generated or nightly by any stretch of the imagination, but will just appear there when i run a new trunk build for Fedora.
cheers, ryanlerch
Hi Ryan,
should I update the link on the Inkscape website (on this page: https://inkscape.org/en/download/ , section Development versions) then from
https://copr-fe.cloud.fedoraproject.org/coprs/ryanlerch/inkscape-unstable/ to http://inkscapetarballs.ryanlerch.org/
or, if this is an additional link, should it be added somewhere?
Maren

Hi Maren,
These are definitely two separate things -- definitely still want the copr-fe link still there. However, those builds have now moved to https://copr.fedoraproject.org/coprs/ryanlerch/inkscape-devel/ and that link should be updated.
Not sure if we want the link to the tarballs there as well -- is this something that we want to advertise on the website (/me is not sure either way)

Tarballs are also available via the ubuntu package build system:
https://launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/+archive/ubuntu/trunk/+packages
E.g.: inkscape-trunk_0.91.0+devel+13930+58~ubuntu15.04.1.tar.xz
While the list here is not as easy to navigate as ryan's, these tarballs are being automatically generated rather than manually. Also since this is part of the Inkscape devel team in launchpad there's more people who could fix it if something broke. So I think the launchpad link might be the better one to link to from our Downloads page.

They are linked now. I think it's a good idea to add them, as the lp project page seems not to offer an option to just download the source code without all the bzr revision history (at least as far as I could find). Knowing this exists saves a lot of time for the occasional source code downloader like me :)

Launchpad does offer tarballs (even per revision) - check e.g. here, the links at the top:
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/inkscape/trunk/revision/13931
( download tarball: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/inkscape/trunk/tarball/13931 )
