.47 builds on mac
Hi,
I'm not really a Mac user :), but every time we release .47 we hear "but it doesn't look native on Mac". So, did anybody try to finally build Inkscape with native GTK+ port for Mac? Are we ready to release Inkscape for Mac that way?
Alexandre
Almost. There are a few glitches to be ironed out in a native Gtk+/Quartz port, which I'm working on at the moment in theory, although due to my main job I don't have much time for it right now.

As a second, I got about halfway through adding tablet support to Gtk +/Quartz.
If anyone is close to needing that, be sure to let me know.

I know that a lot of Mac artists are also Wacom owners, including myself.

I haven't tried in a while so it is nice to see it has progressed. As for releasing 0.47 with it... not sure. At least I think we should release an X11 version as the official one and a native version as experimental: it would not have had any real testing before the release.
Last time I tried, it ran fine but: - keyboard shortcuts weren't displayed in the OSX menubar - the display was slow because of a limitation in fps by Quartz. The problem could be overcome by fiddling with the quartz settings but could potentially make the system less stable. What is the status now?
As for the "looks", it all depends on the gtk theme. Has anyone got news regarding that: http://people.imendio.com/richard/archives/2008/02/native_mac_them.html a GTK theme engine that actually calls Quartz for the drawing.

I too would love that.
