[Fwd: SourceForge.net Support: Over-quota notice for project: inkscape]
Looks like we're over the 100M quota quite a bit (over 2G).

ACSpike and Ted - could you please make sure all of your files in the inkscape directory have group write permissions set?
Doxygen and the snapshots seem to be taking up the bulk of the space in web_extra:
80M drwxrwsr-x 2 keescook web_extra/cvs-snap 1.1M drwxrwsr-x 3 nemies web_extra/debs 310M drwxrwxrwx 3 ishmal web_extra/doxygen 224M drwxr-sr-x 2 irisson web_extra/macosx-snap 31M drwxrwsr-x 2 nemies web_extra/osx 42M drwxrwsr-x 3 nemies web_extra/rpms 1.5M drwxrwsr-x 2 bryce web_extra/svg_rendertest_example 84M drwxrwsr-x 2 keescook web_extra/svn-snap 4.0K drwxrwxr-x 2 acspike web_extra/test 9.1M drwxrwsr-x 12 acspike web_extra/wiki 8.7M drwxrwxr-x 12 acspike web_extra/wiki-old 6.4M drwxrwsrwx 2 bryce web_extra/wiki_uploads 442M drwxrwxrwx 2 ishmal web_extra/win32 175M drwxrwsr-x 2 keescook web_extra/win32-snap
The inkscape_web repository is at 96M by itself (50% of which is screenshots).
I've cleared out what I could, bringing us down to 1.9G. ACSpike and Ted, could you also please spend a few minutes today or tomorrow clearing out what you can as well? After that, I'll post a request for an increased quota - there's _no way_ we will ever be able to fit into only 100M. I'll ask for a couple gigs, but I think we'll be lucky to get one gig. It looks like most of SF's disks are running at 85-90% capacity already.

Greetings,
This is an automated quota-overage notice. Do not respond to this email, instead follow the instructions below if you have questions or concerns regarding this mailing.
You are receiving this message as your SourceForge.net project, inkscape, is currently over its quota in its project group directory located on the SourceForge.net shell server. Your project has a 100000 k soft quota and your project is currently using 2181760 k of disk. This new quota system allows us to track quotas granted to projects. Follow the instructions below to request a quota increase for your project to stop future mailings like this one from being sent to your project. The following command can be run at any time on the project shell server to check your project's disk usage:
du -skx /home/groups/i/in/inkscape/
Please take action to reduce your project's disk usage as soon as reasonably possible, but no later than 2006-04-19. For your quick reference, you may access your user home directory using any SSH client:
Host: shell.sourceforge.net Home Directory: /home/groups/i/in/inkscape/
Should you have problems accessing your user account, please refer to the site document "Coping with User Account Problems": https://www.sf.net/docs/C02
For further details on the usage and access of the project shell server, refer to the site document "Project Shell, Web and Database Services": https://www.sf.net/docs/E07
If you wish to request an increased quota for your project, or have further questions or concerns regarding this matter, submit a Support Request to the Alexandria project on SourceForge.net. However, please review your project's current disk usage, and prune out unneeded data now, before requesting the increased quota. https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=add&group_id=1&atid=200001
Thank you,
SourceForge.net Support

Well then, stop the doxygen cronjob at kees' machine. This service is not very necessary: it is easy to generate the documentation at home. One could also offer it compressed but why?

I think those are from the web update/svn switchover. I don't know why they are in my name, but I certainly don't need them. Feel free to delete.

Since most of these files lack the group write permission, only you can delete them. Also, I notice the dates on some of the files are fairly recent (Apr 7-12) so I would suspect they are being generated by a process somewhere that operates with your user ID. Could you take a look at these and see if what's there is proper, and if not, disable whatever is creating these files?
I'm CC'ing kees since the win32-snap files are under his account (and also lack group write permissions).

the first mac os x snaps were unstripped so twice as big as they should be. that's partly why the folder is so big. anyway you can safely delete everything since new builds will be available on http://inkscape.modevia.com/macosx-snap/?M=D but then somebody has to update the links on the web site (for the win32 builds too?) aaron is it ok to link to modevia from the main web site?
cheers

Okay, sounds good. Since the group write permissions are not set for these files, could you delete them?

ok done. I noticed you (or someone) changed the links on the downloads page so thats fine. just a thought: aaron negotiated the hosting with his provider and the home page has some modified inkscape logo to give visibility to modevia as a host http://inkscape.modevia.com/ linking directly to the downloads skips the logo and modevia might not like this. so aaron is it ok to link directly or should the link points to the home page? (maybe all the Development Versions part of Inkscape website could just be one link to the homepage of modevia for compiled packages?)

Heh, yeah. I changed the links. Modevia has made no requirements of us. I branded the home page and used a modevia.com subdomain out of thankfulness. Direct links as of now still promote modevia in the url. If we as a group decide it is appropriate, perhaps a small blurb on the download page would be sufficient. I'm not real anxious to get into endorsements, but I do think nominal appreciation of service rendered is important.

ok, no pb then. I also think it is important to thank modevia appropriately because the service is great (and the download speeds are great too... if only I could compile inkscape to add some new stuff there ;-) ). I'll be for a replacement of the Development part of the downloads page by a link to modevia, with a logo.

Agreed, I don't think it'd be a problem to give an acknowledgement on the download page.
Also, another thought is if we could allow people to set up additional mirrors. This'd both take a bit of the load off modevia, and reduce the risk we'd face if suddenly modevia become temporarily (or permanently) unavailable. Probably this would be as simple as an ssh'd rsync.

We could just link to the subversion server for the screenshots :) You could remind them of that if they deny the quota increase :)

Good point! ;-)
I got a canned email back asking a bunch of questions (most of which I'd already answered in my original post...) So at least it's made it past the first filter.
I'm going to wait on answering it though, until the situation with the snapshots has been completed. Since it sounds like we can host those elsewhere (and from which they'll download faster, too), that would greatly reduce the amount of quota we'd need (we'll still need more than 100M tho).
