Hi there!
I don't know if you are the right people to send you this, but I don't know who else to submit this to. I hope you pass it on to whoever it may correspond if it's not you the ones I should have sent this to.
I just downloaded the Mac OSX build because a friend of mine recommended Inkscape, but when I open the application, X11 opens but nothing happens. I do get an Inkscape menu bar, but it only says Inkscape (no File, Edit, Window, Help menus...), and besides X11 doesn't list Inkscape as one of its applications. In fact when I quit X11, Inkscape remains open. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Do I need anything else? I'm running OS X 10.4.3, but as I'm a total Unix newbie, I don't know how to compile anything, not to speak fixing something.
Thank you very much for your attention and your time. Your work for the Open Source community is great, and I am grateful for there is people like you out there, interested in something else than money. I hope I can try Inkscape out, because I have heard wonderful things of it.
Regards,
Diego.

Hi Diego,
Did you try a stable inkscape build or a development build? if it is a development build, try the stable one. Inkscape is usually slow to start the first time (it has to do some things with your fonts) so maybe you just need to be patient. There is a window telling you that the font cache has to be rebuild. Do you have this window somewhere? Normally when you have this window you wait until the font cache rebuild is complete and then you close and restart inkscape and it whould be ok. remember that inkscape is an X11 app so it does not start as quick as a native mac os X app. Do you use other X11 applications? do they run fine?
