hello -- newbie with c++ and floss
Hi all,
Just introducing myself. I'm a compSci student, loving C++ and Inkscape, so figured this would be a good place to learn more c++ and enjoy it.

Welcome! I think you'll find the Inkscape community a wonderful place to learn. There is lots to do and many helpful experienced folks to work with. What areas of Inkscape interest you the most? Because you mention you are a student, you may also be interested in investigating Google's Summer of Code program:

Thanks Aaron :)
I actually got the idea of joining Inkscape from the list of "previous mentors" in Google's SOC pages. However, from the Inkscape wiki, it looks like even if I don't get into GSOC I'll still have a lot to do: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Google_Summer_Of_Code_2009#Suggested...
I have no problem learning to refactor Inkscape's source (I think it'll come natural, as I'm a neat freak), but I'd really love to tackle this "SVG Fonts Using Styles" proposal: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/BlueprintDesigningSVGfontsUsingStyle...
If any one has any pointers, I'd love the help. I'm really fairly new to programming, but absolutely love it.
PS. I have a fine arts background, I think could be quite beneficial. :) -- Jonathan Zacsh blog.jzdev.me
