2 ideas:
- allow only registered users to post external links
- make it possible to lock and old page so it's still there but not editable anymore
How difficult is this?

There is a flag to turn on the first IIRC, but I don't know if there is a way to do the latter. Please look in the config file in the inkscape_wiki module in CVS for details on what settings are available, if you'd like to tighten down control. I think wiki provides a few different ways of attacking this problem.
The best way of preventing it is to require logins and only hand out accounts from our trust network (i.e. only people with wiki accounts can give out wiki accounts.) Note that this will also hinder random users from participating in the wiki.

This SF.Net email is sponsored by OSTG. Have you noticed the changes on Linux.com, ITManagersJournal and NewsForge in the past few weeks? Now, one more big change to announce. We are now OSTG- Open Source Technology Group. Come see the changes on the new OSTG site. www.ostg.com _______________________________________________ Inkscape-devel mailing list Inkscape-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/inkscape-devel

This is only needed for external links. Updates without links should still be open to anyone.

So can you or anyone else please enable this ASAP? It's becoming a big problem, look at the Recent changes in Wiki today. Even simply disabling external links for all users is better than this.

There is no flag to disable that.

So what to do?
Close the Wiki if we can't make it resistant to that?
Or move it to another engine that is better protected. Whatever, this must be done _now_.
I could clean up an occasional garbage in one or two pages, but what happened today requires a full-time janitor.

Bulia, when you reply to emails, please do not strip the attributions from them. It would have been useful to know who wrote the above comments that are included so I could have tracked down what was being talked about. As it was I had to figure out a different solution.
Thanks, Bryce

OK, though in this case, all quoted comments were mine and yours, which is why (writing to you) I didn't think about attributing them.

Well, especially in that case include them. The comments sounded familiar but I could not tell whether they were mine or not. Usually you can configure your mail client to include the attribution at the top.
