Is this installation from package or source code?
If package then please tell us 1. your inkscape version number 2. where you got what package from 3. if Windows what version of Windows? 4. if Linux, what Linux distribution? 5. if Linux, what GUI do you work under?
Please understand we need this information to resolve your problem. People who do not provide it will lose this possibility.
