Inkscape Developer meeting 2025-12-05 Attendees: Mc, Tav, MikeKov, ltlnx

Mike, Mc and Tav talked about hatches support in the pattern editor. Mike proposed that the hatches be listed along with the patterns in the pattern editor, and could be marked as such. We can also have a feature to convert hatches to paths, so that it would be more useful for Ink/Stitch people.

Mc asked about the string freeze, RC and release times, and wrote up a message to send to the translators mailing list. The metadata for release descriptions also came up; we would want to merge it before the string freeze, so that translators could translate them before the release.

About the release dates, the consensus is to have an ​RC on the 12th, and release on Christmas.

Tav was working on macOS bug fixes for 1.4.3, especially crashes related to the splash screen and opening files from the Finder. He has an MR for testing and debugging stuff. Willy also tried some debugging and determined that #ifdef-ing out the splash screen stops the crashes. Tav concurs that if it's not fixable we would need to disable the splash screen on macOS.

Mike and Tav talked about the color font rendering MR. There are some edge cases to consider before merging.
