some questions/suggestions
Hi, just checked out version 0.36 - great job! Still, there are 2 issues that have always bugged me in sodipodi and still bug me in inkscape. If some one can suggest a workaround, I'd be glad to hear it. If not, maybe i should file this as wishlist items in bug tracker...
1. Is there an easy way of creating a closed Bezier curve? Of course, one can create an open one and then connect endpoints, but it is a long process...
2. When copying an object, the copied object is put at exactly the same position as the original. Am I the only one who finds it inconvenient? I frequently need to have several copies of the same object in different places my drawings, and selecting one of the two objects which are literally on top of each other is awkward, especially if the objects are small. I'd much prefer that "paste" creates a floating object, which follows mouse cursor, and you click to show where to put it. What do the usability experts say about such an idea?
Best, Sasha PS. Please cc me when replying: I am not subscribed to the list.

If you use the "Draw precisely positioned curves" action, if you place the endpoint of the curve onto the starting point, it seems to close the curve properly for me. I've tested both the 0.36 rpm and CVS HEAD.
I think it used to not work properly in the past. A workaround I had adopted was to create rects, then convert to nodes, and then put the beziers in by node editing.

I also find it inconvenient but this seems to be a fairly typical behavior for drawing programs, so suspect doing it differently would be inconvenient for other users. But why don't you submit a feature request with some ideas on how it could be augmented. Also, it would probably be illuminating to know how Illustrator handles it.

One option would be to have a 'duplicate/replicate' dialog that could be popped up with some hotkey. Then in this just ask for offsets & count then repeat away

That'd probably come in quite handy for a number of cases.
I think that with Nathan's new grid code, with snapping activated, being able to click locations to put the copies could be a very intuitive to put in multiple copies of things.

According to the Tip and Tricks page:http://www.inkscape.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?TricksAndTips you can just move an object around and hit spacebar to drop a copy behind.
Is this what you want?
