Is pressure sensitivity supported in X11 running under OS X?
Is pressure sensitivity supported in X11 running under OS X?
if it is, what configuration instructions are there?
if not, what is the issue, and why hasn't it been fixed in the past three or four years?

Howtos for linux X11 regarding pressure sensitivity: http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/index.php/howto/inputdev http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-25151.html
Wacom or other tablets use pressure sensitivity and applications such as GIMP and Inkscape use this facility, when available. Adobe Illustrator is a commercial application frequently used with wacom tablets and OS X.

No.

Apple's X11 doesn't implement the XINPUT extension.

Yah!
mental, just how trivial is "Mac OS X updates: Added trivial Xinput support" http://www.x.org/X11R6.8.2/doc/RELNOTES2.html to be fair this only came out on Friday and 6.8.0 said much the same....
so How do we get Apple moving on this one.... my guess is that lobbying Wacom and Apple together will help, as IIRC this worked well last time around with Wacom and linux.
Any other ideas*? I could visit the "Genius bar" in Regent Street, well perhaps a few of us could?
I'm not alone in believing that most graphic designers prefer macs and inkscape needs Apple pressure sensitivity.

*No doubt you're aware there's interest in including variable line width in SVG standards at some point.
No doubt Adobe will update their viewer one day, etc.
Is Apple deliberately abusing Open Source in this instance?
