All this talk about website redesign and reorganization makes me wonder. On many commercial websites I see a "For the Press" section. Should inkscape have one of those?
Also, since the question has come up multiple times can we attach licensing information to each screenshot on the website. I noticed the gamemap example does this. Would someone who knows how place a PD designation next to both of my screenshots?

It wouldn't hurt, though we need someone to write it.

That's probably wise also.

Why not use the newly created showcase section for this?

I think we must make redistributable all the images on the screenshots page.

Press section is used for storing high quality logos, contacts info and links to articles devoted to Inkscape. It is not related to showcases.

That would be nice, and I would also like to ask for the sources for the images in the screenshots (at least for new submissions) so that we can hand out screenshots showing a localized interface.

When I read this, I thought of this: http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20010401.html, now the page is old, and not everyone feels that Nielson's opinions are universally applicable (thougn I agree with pretty much all that he has written).
We should surely take notice of these points:
The top-five *reasons journalists gave for visiting a company's website*were to
- find a PR contact (name and telephone number), - check basic facts about the company (spelling of an executive's name, his/her age, headquarters location, etc.), - discover the company's own spin on events, - check financial information, and - download images to use as illustrations in stories.
Now it may be a little while before inkscape is involved in events needing to be spun and/or have financial information to reveal or conceal, but I would suggest that there would be a definite beneift from this information being available on a designated "press Pack" page

See http://gnome.org/press/ for an example.
