Hi all,
For long time I've been too lazy apply Inkscape for Hackontest, but next week when I am back in the Netherlands (!!!), I will sign us up for it.
But first I'd like to do a check to see whichs devs are interested in teaming up for it. Please let me know if you're interested :-)
One of the possible projects we could be working on is getting the whiteboard working. (imho it fits very nicely with the spirit of a teamed effort to code it :)
Cheers, Johan

Well, I'd certainly be interested.
I believe working on whiteboard could be a suitable idea. At least, I don't have any better thought up at this moment.
(actually, one of the cases where posting "Nobody?" actually helped... I was thinking about answering this today, but I'd probably had forgotten if it wasn't for that mail.)

Improved UI for SVG filters? ;-)
I mean temprorarily disabling nodes and copy/pasting primitives between filters

Well, we now have Inkscape in there, feel free to post project ideas to http://www.hackontest.org under Inkscape. If you can login, that is... All I get now is PHP errors. :/

I don't think whiteboard is a good candidate, because the real solution for whiteboard is to move to a framework like Telepathy so that is can work with Bonjour. The core problem is the lack of support by Jabber servers, and getting around them is key. Also, by supporting a protocol like SXE we can hopefully get Jabber server support in the future.
I think that an interesting hackontest would be to convert the canvas over to Cairo. While that seems simple in many ways, it also involves switching all the colors from RGBA to BGRA, which will be tricky and a good project.
Also, it would be nice to push the filter rendering into Cairo. I know that the swfdec project needs them there also.

Well, as I said in an earlier email I'd be glad to go (modulo a tiny uncertainty in my schedule for September). So I guess you can count me in.
Cheers, Max
