Ooops! I forgot to convert the "Inkscape 0.45" wording to curves.... Attached is a corrected SVG file, please could someone add it to the release? In the attached jpg you can have a look at how it should look. About the "cutted" blur, well there is unfortunately nothing I can do about as it seems to be the behaviour of Inkscape...

I am running the prerelease from yesterday, and it looks pretty good.
One minor thing is the about screen is not quite right.
The text "Inkscape 0.45" does not appear in the same font (since I probably don't have the same font as the designer). Turning it into a shape would fix this.
Also the glow under the second ball back cuts off where it should fade nicely. (See attachment)

Thanks, committed to 0.45 branch. The font is beautiful, but it produces A LOT of nodes when converted to path. I simplified both texts slightly which didn't change their shape but resulted in a 1/3 smaller SVG file.
About the "cutted" blur, well there is unfortunately nothing I can do about as it seems to be the behaviour of Inkscape...
I have fixed this blur area cropping in SVN trunk and 0.45 branch. Did you try it out yet?

I might be missing something, but it seems quite easy to fix, just alter the width and x attributes of the filter manually (2 and -.5 seem to be enough).
