I'm using GtkWimp with inkscape 0.37 on windows 98 and getting a shedload of font errors I really need to report ... (I'll get around to it sometime this week I hope).

This is a Pango bug and is well-known. I bet that your default font is something like "MS Sans Serif". Pango on Win32 only handles TrueType fonts, and is probably overly verbose when it can't find a font...
