No, not really. To the extent that specifications or research papers get read, they are by individuals who have access to them and an interest, not typically a practice by contributors to the overall project per se.
I think there are decent ideas about how to formalize the work here.

I'm not familiar with what is needed to review papers or how that would help Inkscape, so I can't reply there. But, tradition for this mailing list is that folks combine all of their thoughts into a single email and then send it together instead of as several different email messages. For some folks it is difficult to read so many individual messages. I don't wish to discontinue the conversation or discourage your ideas, but it would be helpful for the list if there were larger complete emails. Thank you, Ted
