When I edit a camel image from OpenClipArt.org, and save it with Inkscape, the resulting SVG becomes corrupt.

I'm not sure whether this image is corrupt or whether Inkscape has trouble parsing it. However, I do know that the camel from Clker.com edits perfectly well in Inkscape.

Known issue with SVG files created by Adobe Illustrator (the one from openclipart.org):
<!-- Generator: Adobe Illustrator 13.0.2, SVG Export Plug-In . SVG Version: 6.00 Build 14948) -->
Bug #499257 "saves svg file, that it can't read afterwards" <https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/499257
See also Bug #675170 "Exported Illustrator SVG with XMP results in xpacket encoding problem in Inkscape" https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/675170
for a another detailed description of the content which triggers the encoding error after resaving in Inskcape.
