I just wanted to wish you good luck and to say that I really look forward to seeing your work in Inkscape. There have been several requests for such a tool already (to deform text primarily) and I see much use for it in my personal work. Goog luck again (and work on a branch or with git-svn since the tree is frozen right now, but others will be likely to explain this better than me).
