Should clicking/draggins a bezier segment select its endnodes?

Should clicking/draggins a bezier segment select its endnodes?
This bug suggests that it must not:
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=604306&aid=1363157...
I see the logic in selecting the endnodes, but I don't remember ever using this feature for selecting, whereas I do remember how this was annoying a few times.
What are your opinions?

Hmm, I think clicking a segment should not select its endnodes unless the shift key is held down.
Rationale: the only time (for me, anyway) that click-segment-to-select-endnodes is convenient is when you are selecting multiple segments.

Sounds good to me. If no one objects I'll implement that.

As long as it's being kept in some form, I'm a happy camper.
