I found that the SVG units reader simply does not understand meters as a unit. And this seems to be correct according to the spec. Here:

it says that SVG uses "absolute unit identifiers from CSS", and CSS grammar:

http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-CSS2/grammar.html#q1

lists only cm, mm, in, pt, pc. So the question is: why do we have meters in the units drop-down lists at all? Isn't it safer to remove them?
